The Story of Thanksgivukkah

There’s a lot of hype on social media about the phenomena of “Thanksgivukkah,” or rather Thanksgiving and Hanukkah falling on the same day. It hasn’t happened since 1888 and won’t occur for another 79,000 years because of the difference in secular and lunar calendars (United States following secular and Jewish holidays following lunar). So obviously people are talking about it. A capella group Six13 sing about the two holidays merging.

Six13 Explain Thanksgivukkah

How are you celebrating Thanksgivukkah?

I had no idea Thanksgiving and Hanukkah could even fall on the same day until this year. This social media trend of Thanksgivukkah will definitely be short lived. I can’t wait another 79,000 years for a #tbthanksgivukkah
