Google Reaches $17 Million Privacy Settlement With 37 States

Google is making headlines regarding privacy- just like the discussion we had in class on ethics in social media and privacy settings. Google is now disclosing what tactics they are using in this 37 state settlement. What do you think-Is it in the best interest of the general public to disclose this kind of information or as consumers should we know that our information is used in other ways?

  1. Unfortunately, I think that this illustrates that there is just too much money to be made through targeted advertising, and that even when you try to avoid it, companies will find ways around your attempts at privacy.
