Google And Microsoft Agree To Block Images Of Child Abuse

This is a huge step forward for both google and microsoft. Preventing people from viewing illegal images of child abuse is one step closer to implementing full awareness. Although no algorithm is perfect, and this policy will not prevent people from uploading more pictures, it will eliminate a huge chunk of illegal photos.

I think this is a huge step forward in terms of making the internet a safer place. While censorship is a fine line, I believe this is a clear example of editing content for the good of people. I think it is admirable for Microsoft and Google to spend valuable time creating an algorithm to eliminate images of child abuse.

  2. I’m kind of surprised that this didn’t happen earlier. I understand the argument that censorship is a slippery slope, but this is such a non-controversial case, that it should have happened a while ago.
