A Study on Using Tumblr for Brand Promotion

Found this really interesting study done by Simply Measured  explaining why top brands are being drawn to Tumblr.

Here are some of the interesting results about the 31 brands they studied:

  • 1/3 of Reblogs happen 30+ days after the initial post. “This longevity is something we haven’t seen on other social networks, and is one of the most powerful and attractive features of Tumblr’s platform,” said Simply Measured.
  • 60% of Reblogs are downstream of the original post, proving that great content amplifies your brand message regardless of how many followers you have.
  • “Original content drives 89% of engagement for top brands on Tumblr.”
  • “Photos account for 98% of engagement for top brands on Tumblr”

  1. I think that the statistic on the longevity of Tumblr is really interesting. It is very different than our usual notion of messages spreading through social media.
